Being lost at sea is a terrible tragedy when no bodies are found. That haunts families for generations. There is no funeral, no grave and no closure. There are so many unanswered questions. This edition tells the story of the Cork City Steam Packet Company’s SS Lismore which sank off Hook Head in County Wexford, with a crew of 19 from Wexford, Cork, Derry, Liverpool, the Isle of Man and Spain. Only one man, who was from Wexford, survived – his third time saved from death at sea.. A hundred years after the tragedy, relatives of the crew gathered in the fishing village of Kilmore Quay. Co.Wexford, in the first memorial service held for the lost crew. Photo above shows familyh relatives at the Memorial Garden in Kilmore Quay for all those lost at sea.
