The National Inshore Fishermen Association (NIFA), which represents 150 fishermen working inshore waters, has partnered with Digital Link company to “bring a new level of storytelling to Irish seafood.”
“Consumers are no longer content with anonymous products. They want to know who caught their food, where it came from and how it was sourced. Traditional packaging couldn’t deliver this level of transparency or storytelling. NIFA saw this as an opportunity to elevate the voice of local fishermen and bring authentic, human stories to the forefront using innovative digital tools,” NIFA says.

The partnership with Digital Link company, integrates next-generation QR codes on packaging, providing a way for consumers to discover the stories behind each product. It is a positive development by fishermen.
“When a customer scans a Digital Link QR code, they are taken on a journey that connects them directly to the source of their food. They can access the storytelling element, featuring video content highlighting fishermen – their work, environment, and traditions. We are paving the way for a future where fishing communities thrive and the legacy of Irish seafood is preserved for generations to come.”
